At the beginning of 2014 I was delighted to join the company for Mike Kenny's new adaptation of Homer's 'The Odyssey'; a newly commissioned work for Derby Theatre with Artistic Director Sarah Brigham at the helm.

This was a thrilling show to be a part of; physical, visceral and emotional, with strong strands of musical and visual storytelling, and a simplicity of style which allowed us to really get to the heart of this ancient tale and re-examine it through a modern perspective.

To mark 2014's First World War centenary, Derby Theatre presents one of literature's oldest stories about the consequences of war, by Olivier Award-winning playwright Mike Kenny.

The Trojan War is over and it's time for Odysseus to return home. The fighting may have ceased but storms still rage on the high seas. Our hero is forced to run the monumental gauntlet thrown down between him and the long-awaited reunion with his family.

But getting home is only half the battle, as twenty years have passed and everything has changed in his absence...

This classic tale is brought to life in an epic new version told by an ensemble of talented performers through live music and emotive storytelling.
