"More energy and chaotic brilliance than bottled childhood … quirky, refreshing and thoroughly off-the-charts bonkers … a generously talented bunch; comedy, instruments, vocals and fearlessness up to the eyeballs make for one fabulous performance."
***** Always Time For Theatre
"Anna Westlake’s Fleance is a bit of a scene-stealer, an emo kid with a dark side … the witches are gothic automatons, glitchy and eerie. Relentlessly laugh-out-loud funny … this is Oddsocks creativity and inventiveness at its best."
William Stafford for Bum On A Seat
"This punk-cum-panto-feel production … brings the tragedy bang up-to-date and pulses with fun and freshness. Shakespeare will have seen Oddsocks' offering as one of the great party-pieces of his 400-year celebration."
Annabel Brittain for Gloucestershire Live
I spent summer 2016 on the road with the wonderful Oddsocks Productions, who have built an excellent reputation over 27 years of touring for their unique and fun-filled versions of Shakespearean classics. We produced two shows in rep which toured all over the UK and Channel Islands and performed at both outdoor and indoor venues, and always accompanied by Oddsocks' unique festival atmosphere.
In our steampunk-inspired Macbeth I played a feisty female aviator version of Ross, an emo kid Fleance and an android First Witch (obviously!) As usual with Oddsocks, music was a huge part of the show with classic rock songs dotted throughout including Blondie's 'One Way Or Another', Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight' and a huge finale including motorbikes, sword-fights and an homage to Game of Thrones all to the backing of Meatloaf's 'Bat Out Of Hell'...
Much Ado About Nothing had a more classic pop feel, and included hits such as The Killers' 'Mr Brightside', Bonnie Tyler's 'I Need A Hero' and Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love'. I played the spoiled young daughter Hero, and Verges, a slightly deranged member of the local neighbourhood watch. I had a brilliant time with these two contrasting roles, especially as Hero when I got to sing and dance a very silly version of Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'!
Below are trailers for both shows to give you an idea of the fun...
